Rick Castle

Knee and Shoulder Patient - Sports Injury

I first had the honor and privilege of meeting Dr. Foad through my son who at the time was dealing with shoulder issues. Several years ago I partially tore my ACL in my right knee, then a couple of years later I completely tore my ACL in my left knee (this is the price we pay when we are young and think we are invincible).

I was very active when I was younger (and still am) playing baseball, softball, basketball, umpiring little league baseball/softball, as well as growing up on a farm. So after about 10 Scopes on both knees and my original surgeon giving up his practice because he was diagnosed with cancer I had to start looking for another Surgeon. Dr. Foad had come highly recommended to my son by Steve Wieskamp, PT so after trying 3 different surgeons I decided to give Dr. Foad a try (I am so glad that I did).

I made an appointment with Dr, Foad and it was like I had been seeing him my whole life. The first thing he told me was that he had no idea how I was able to do the things that I was doing because of my severe bow-legged knees. He recommended to wait a few years before he would do anything surgically for the knees because he felt I was too young.

In 2016 I had the honor of umpiring in the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. At that time I tore my right bicep and had to have surgery by Dr. Foad on my rotator cuff (which went very well). I put up with my knees for 2 more years and then in September 2018 I had my left knee replaced and 3 months later December of 2018 I had my right knee replaced, by Dr. Foad.

Surgery went well and exactly how Dr. Foad explained that it would go. After 6 months of hard work and therapy I was able to get back to work and do the things that I love doing. This is the first time in 20 + years that I am able to go out walking, and shopping with my wife and not have to stop and sit down every 5 minutes to rest because of being in so much pain. My son told me that this is the first time in his life that he has seen me with straight legs.

I never thought that I would ever find someone that had so much compassion and cared about my future well-being as Dr. Foad and his staff. It is an honor and privilege to not only call Dr. Foad my doctor and surgeon but also my friend. If it weren’t for Dr. Foad I wouldn’t have the pain free life that I have today.

If you are in need of an Orthopedic Surgeon, look no further than Dr. Foad and his staff. They are second to none and will be there for you the rest of your life. I would recommend him to anyone and I already have. Thanks Dr. Foad for giving me my life back!
