Shoulder Patient - Sports Injury

I injured my shoulder while training intensely for a mountain bike trip to Colorado. I could still ride my bike, but I couldn’t lift my left arm above my head. Sometimes the pain would keep me up at night, but it wasn’t an everyday occurrence. At first, I thought I could just tough it out and it would get better, but I was wrong.
I have always sought out the best so when I asked who the top shoulder surgeon is, I was given a unanimous answer…Dr. Abdul Foad. If you take the time to read his bio you will see why patients from all over go to him. I was impressed that he was also a collegiate athlete, so he understood my competitiveness to come back from injury quickly.
Dr. Foad was easy to get ahold of and he scheduled me right away. Great person, open, honest, professional and easy to talk to. He examined my MRI and diagnosed me with glenohumeral internal impingement and SLAP tear. Less than two weeks later I had surgery.
His team in Clinton and Davenport were great to deal with. They were very focused on communication and my comfort.
I almost immediately went to rehab and I had the opportunity to meet Brad Harper who handled all of it. Dr. Foad communicated with Brad a few times a week checking on my recovery. Brad had the same injury and surgery as me, so he had me at 100% at six weeks post-op, just like Dr. Foad promised.
Dr. Foad is also involved in the community and it turned out our kids ran cross country together. Whenever I saw him at the cross country meets, he would check my shoulder and I think that is what sets him apart, he really cares.
Dr. Foad was also helpful to my good friend in Ohio who was having shoulder issues and didn’t know what to do. I told Dr. Foad his situation and he offered to look at his MRI and then gave him contact information for the best people in Ohio. Again, he didn’t have to do that, but it was very apparent that he likes helping people.
Everything went smoothly with my surgery and rehab; I am happy to say that I had a great outcome.
If you have a shoulder injury, I recommend Dr. Foad to anyone who requires the best!
